The National Meteorological Service reported that a new tropical wave is moving over the Caribbean Sea, increasing the likelihood of rain in the Yucatan Peninsula. Additionally, low temperatures are expected in the high areas of some central states and heat in the north of the Republic.
In its report, the SMN detailed that low-pressure channels will interact with the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, generating showers and heavy rains in different regions of the country, including the west, center, east, south, and southeast, as well as the Yucatan Peninsula. Strong gusts of wind and possible dust storms are also anticipated in states of the Northern Plateau and the Central Plateau.
The approach of a new tropical wave is expected to cause showers with heavy rainfall in several states such as Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo, while other entities will experience intervals of showers. Isolated rains are forecast for Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Querétaro.
On the other hand, a warm to hot environment is anticipated in the north and northwest of the country with high maximum temperatures, while some states will record low temperatures. Mountainous areas of several states could experience minimum temperatures ranging from -5 to 0 °C with frost for the early hours of Friday.
In the case of Mexico City, a yellow alert has been activated for low temperatures, specifically in Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, and Tlalpan, where temperatures are estimated to be between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius for the early morning of Thursday.
